McQueeny Group History
In 1961 Mike McQueeny Sr. started a manufacturer’s representative company in Kansas City named McQueeny Company. At that time, Mr. McQueeny primarily represented and sold plumbing equipment and products. Over time more and more HVAC products were added to the line card.
In the early 1980s, Mr. McQueeny’s son, Mike Jr., went to work for York International in Atlanta, GA. Mr. McQueeny convinced his son that he should come to work in Kansas City and bring the York line with him. And that’s what happened!
By adding York to the line card in 1985, the company became a mainstream HVAC equipment rep along with its still-strong presence with its plumbing products. Shortly after moving to Kansas City, Mike Jr. and David Lock (who had been with Mike Sr. for many years) bought the firm and renamed it McQueeny-Lock Company. Growth was significant for several years, primarily on the HVAC side of the business.
In 2004, Rod Slump and Quentin McArthur, both long time McQueeny-Lock salespeople, purchased the HVAC side of the business and renamed the organization McQueeny Group.
McQueeny Group exists today serving the state of Kansas and the western half of Missouri with top-of-the-line HVAC equipment solutions for customers who seek great products, service and an experienced sales and support team.
Innovative One Group (IOG)
In mid-2021, John Gottwald and Ken Paulus, owners of Innovative Technology Solutions (ITS) and One Power and Quentin McArthur with McQueeny Group began discussing a merger. ITS is a representative of Vertiv and other mission critical mechanical and electrical equipment; One Power is a service organization working in mission critical and telecom markets and McQueeny Group represents HVAC equipment in all commercial and industrial markets. The diversity of a new organization, the synergies available and the ability to serve more customers with more solutions was enough to push the merger forward.
In early 2022 Innovative One Group was established as a holding company for ITS, One Power and McQueeny Group. In the spring of 2022, the three companies moved into a common, renovated space in Lenexa, Kansas. These three companies continue to operate independently in the markets in which they are well known and respected. The ability for each to draw on the resources of another provides benefits to our customers and our manufacturers.
